Studio Art- Drawing and Watercolor

Studio Art- Drawing and Watercolor

Studio Art: Drawing & Watercolor is a hands-on, studio-focused course designed for students who want to build strong foundational skills while exploring personal creativity. This class emphasizes careful observation, thoughtful mark-making, and expressive use of watercolor.

Students will develop techniques in pencil and ink drawing, color mixing, washes, layering, and texture, while learning how to translate what they see into confident, intentional artwork. Projects will range from realistic studies to more interpretive pieces, encouraging students to experiment, take creative risks, and refine their individual style. Lessons will also introduce core art concepts such as composition, value, contrast, and visual storytelling.

Throughout the course, students will reflect on their process, revise their work, and practice presenting finished pieces. The class culminates in a curated portfolio that showcases skill development, craftsmanship, and creative growth—ideal for personal enrichment, high school credit, or future art-focused opportunities. No prior art experience is required; curiosity and commitment to the creative process are encouraged.
